The best pumpkin patches on Long Island are jam-packed with interactive fall fun and adventures the whole family will love. From Nassau County to the East End, destination farms are brimming with pumpkin patch excitement.

The farms often have festivals, fall treats, and family-friendly activities for kids of all ages. Some farms have an admission fee, particularly on weekends or for certain activities. Check the pumpkin farm sites for the latest details before a visit. We've rounded up a list of as many locations as possible of Long Island's best pumpkin patches to enjoy this season with kids.

Best Pumpkin Patches in Nassau County

1. The Dees' Nursery & Florist – Oceanside

This nursery's fall festival starts Saturday, September 21, 2024, and continues each weekend through October, including on Columbus Day. Activities include a petting zoo, pumpkin picking and painting, gem mining, a corn maze, and a spooky walk. The dino dig is interactive fun for little explorers. 

2. Hicks Nursery – Westbury

Hicks Fall Festival begins Saturday, September 14, 2024, and runs weekends through the end of October, and Columbus Day. Favorites like Otto the Ghost and pumpkin picking are back, in addition to pumpkin decorating, sand art, and a hay maze. Fall treats are available for purchase from the Hicks Country Kitchen and food trucks. 

3. Heritage Farm & Garden – Muttontown

Heritage Fall Festival kicks off on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Pumpkin picking, crafts, a bubble table, lawn games, and a corn maze highlight fall fun at this North Shore farm daily. Story time and scavenger hunts on weekends add to the festivities.

4. Albert H. Schmitt Family Farm – Dix Hills

The fall festival begins Saturday, September 14, 2024, and runs daily at this family-run farm. Enjoy pumpkin picking, hayrides, an animal train ride, duck races, and a play area for little ones. There is a $5 admission to enter the pumpkin patch. 

5. Fink's Country Farm – Wading River

The whole family can enjoy on-the-vine pumpkin picking at this Wading River location. The farm's fall festival runs on weekends and holidays through October 3. The fun features a bounce pillow, an animal farm, barn-o-corn, an apple cannon, and more. Outside food and beverages are permitted in the picnic area. 

6. Lewin Farms – Calverton 

Kids can choose their pumpkins right off the vine at this spot. There is also plenty of other seasonal produce to pick or purchase. Take on a family challenge by tackling the farm's 4-acre plus corn maze, which gets a redesign each year. The farm stand is open daily except Tuesdays. Call ahead for a daily pumpkin patch status update.

7. Brightwaters Farms – Bay Shore

The season at this farm starts Tuesday, September 17, 2024, and the fall harvest festival begins on weekends starting Saturday, September 28, 2024. Pumpkin picking, hayrides, face painting, and farm animal feeding are just a few of the activities kids enjoy here. There's also a concession stand, country store, and farmers market. There is FREE admission Tuesday through Friday. No pets allowed on the farm. 

8. Elwood Pumpkin and Christmas Tree Farm – Huntington

Pick pumpkins right off the vine at this farm. Enjoy hayrides along with a small corn maze ideal for younger kids to enjoy with the family. This farm is cash only.

9. May's Farm – Wading River

Kids can search for the perfect pumpkin in the patch. There's also a corn maze, hayrides, and little ones can visit with Sesame Street's Elmo and Cookie Monster on weekends. Fresh-baked pies, roasted corn, and other treats are available to purchase. 

10. Organics Today Farm – East Islip

Pick your pumpkins here and then hop on a tractor-pulled hayride. Goodies include roasted corn, hot apple cider, apple cider donuts, raw honey, and plenty of organic produce for purchase. The farm is open daily for pumpkin picking starting Thursday, September 26, 2024, through Halloween. Admission is FREE. On Saturdays in October, check out the Moonlite Pumpkin Fest, where the family can pick pumpkins in the dark.

11. F&W Schmitt Family Farm – Melville

Family-friendly activities at this farm in business for more than 50 years, include wagon tractor rides, an 8-acre corn maze, a petting zoo, pumpkin picking, and a haunted mansion for older kids (and adults). The fall festivities are on weekends and Columbus Day starting Saturday, September 21, 2024, with some additional hours in October. 

12. White Post Farms – Melville

The White Post Farms Fall Festival runs on weekends and holidays in September and October, starting Saturday, September 21, 2024. Admission includes sing-a-long hayrides, family shows, and for animal-loving little ones hand feeding and cuddles with barnyard friends. The farm is cash-only. 

13. Woodside Nursery & Garden Center – North Patchogue

Pumpkin picking and much more are available here for kids, including a dinosaur park exhibit, scarecrow making, a haunted tunnel, a bounce house, and "gold" mining. Pumpkin picking begins on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

Best Pumpkin Patches on the East End

14. Hank's PumpkinTown – Water Mill

This popular East End farm opens for the season on September 14, 2024. Eight acres of pumpkins are ready to be picked off the vine here. Family fun activities with admission include a gigantic corn maze park that features three unique challenges for different ages, a massive slide, themed play structures galore, gem mining, narrated hayrides, duck races, and more. Homemade donuts and other fall treats are available for purchase. 

15. Fairview Farm – Bridgehampton

Families can pick pumpkins, gourds, and squash at this scenic farm location in the Hamptons. Open weekends through November 3, 2024, families can explore a giant and uniquely designed corn maze, then test their aim with the corn cannon. A country store offers plenty of goodies for purchase.

16. Harbes Family Farm — Mattituck, Riverhead, and Jamesport

A visit to one of the three Harbes Farm locations in fall is a treat for the whole family. Harbes Family Farm in Mattituck opens daily with the Barnyard Adventure Park, an array of interactive family activities and events, including a U-Pick pumpkin patch that reopens for the season Saturday, September 21, 2024. Harbes Orchard in Riverhead features 9 acres of on-the-vine pumpkins in its patch that opens for the season on September 14, 2024. A corn maze, pony rides, and music on the weekends all add to the festival environment. Jamesport offers pumpkin picking, a Robin Hood corn maze, and hayrides. No outside food or pets allowed. 

17. Gabrielsen's Country Farm – Jamesport

Starting in late September, families can enjoy pumpkin picking, cute photo opportunities, fresh produce to purchase, and live music on the weekends at this North Fork farm. 

18. Stakey's Pumpkin Farm – Aquebogue

This North Fork farm boasts 26 acres with 18 varieties of pumpkins that are just waiting to be picked off the vine. There's also a corn maze, hayrides, face painting on weekends in October, and a country store. Pets are not permitted. 

19. Waterdrinker Family Farm – Riverhead, Manorville

Waterdrinker Family Farm has two locations, the original in Manorville and a Riverhead location. Both locations feature fall fun with jump pillows, playgrounds, barn animals, brewed beer for the grownups, and pumpkin picking. Hay rides on the weekends.
