The best farms with family entertainment in Connecticut offer so many fun things to do with kids. While some Connecticut farms are best for picking berries, peaches, and other summer produce, others are even more famous for their delicious ice cream and cider donuts. And the top farms in CT with family entertainment have fun seasonal activities, fairs, and festivals. 1. Plasko's Farm Creamery & Cafe—Trumbull

A farm with seasonal offerings including sweet corn, pumpkins, Christmas trees, and seasonal decoration, the Cafe at the farm offers baked goods, general merchandise ice cream, and hot brewed coffee. Plasko's also has loads of fun activities for kids, including hayrides, farm animals and a corn maze. Open 7 days a week until 9 p.m.

2. Jones Family Farm—Shelton

Jones Family Farm has pick-your-own fruit and flowers, as well as pumpkins in the fall and Christmas Trees later in the year. Jones Family Farm has a Harvest Kitchen with seasonal fare and a live music series all summer long. The farm also has its own winery, which you can pair with their fresh fruit and delicious cuisine!

3. Silverman's Farm—Easton

With a variety of pick-your-own fruit and a kid-approved animal farm, Silverman's Farm in Easton is a top destination for families in Fairfield County. Seasonal attractions include tractor rides, food trucks, and Silverman's Firefly Festival in the Spring. And Silverman's celebtrates Oktoberfest with live music, face painting, and more family entertainment.

4. Castle Hill Farm—Newtown

From the Egg Hunt at Castle Hill Farm in the spring to the pumpkin patch in the Fall, there's always fun in bloom at this Fairfield County farm with family entertainment. From the corn maze to farm to table dinner, from the festivals to the concerts, the family fun at Castle Hill Farm is always in season!

5. Arethusa Farm Dairy—Bantam 

This full-fledged dairy has some of the best old fashioned ice cream around. It's made with fresh milk from the premises—and 16% butterfat. There are lots of tables to sit down, a friendly atmosphere, and several locations if you want to skip the farm and go right to the ice cream!

6. March Farm—Bethlehem

Kids flip for the tractor-tire-themed playground called the Hayloft Playscape at March Farm in Bethlehem. The goats at the pondside animal yard are a hit too! Litchfield County families come for the pick-your-own apples and pumpkin picking; they stay for the hilltop yoga classes and live music in the summertime. March Farms has a seasonal corn maze, delicious baked goods, and so much more.

7. South Farms—Morris

With fun events like Social Thursdays and Savor Litchfield, South Farms in Morris is a destination for the whole family. Events are open to the public and ticketed; check the website for a full listing of events. South Farms also hosts food trucks, for an al fresco dining experience overlooking the Litchfield County countryside.

8. Bloom Hill Farm—Bloomfield

This place is a great stop on any warm evening. It's beautiful with tons of unique flowers, landscaping and cute animals for your kids to be entertained by like peacocks, llamas, and guinea pigs. The staff here is really nice and friendly. Ice cream selections at this CT farm include three different kinds of cones and some delicious flavors like mango, rum raising, peach, and lemon pie.

9. Hilltop Farm and Creamery—Suffield

This farm has a one-mile hiking trail, snoe-shoeing in the winter, and a calendar packed with fun events like the Vintage Baseball Game at Hilltop Farm.  During the summer, they often have live music. Open Tuesday to Friday, Hilltop Farm is a historic location with a fairly-new ice cream shop. Suffield's Hilltop Farm is very scenic, lots of space for kids to stretch their legs.

10. Flamig Farm—West Simsbury

With a petting zoo, pony rides, and hayrides, a visit to Flamig Farm in West Simsbury has plenty of family entertainment. The farm store is famous for the fresh eggs. And the farm has plenty of fun events all year long, from Earth Day at Flamig Farm to Halloween on the Farm. Swing by at Christmas for a Visit with Santa!

11. Foster Farm—South Windsor

In addition to picking pumpkins, guests can say hi to the animals, enjoy two corn mazes, and enjoy a treat from the concessions stand on the weekends. A favorite for the kids is the farm play yard where they can jump and hide in haystacks and climb on the wooden train. Little onew will enjoy the sandbox, ride the pedal cart track, and explore the wooden pirate ship. Kids can also use the jump pad (weekends only).

12. Bishop's Orchard—Guilford

Bishop's Orchard in Guilford is a treat for a day picking apples and enjoying some spectacular food. There's also ice cream for the kids and treats at the on-site winery for mom and dad! But the best part of visiting Bishop's is the events all year long, with live music and plenty of seasonal fun. The Fall Festival at the Big Red Barn is an autumn tradition.

13. Lyman Orchards—Middlefield

Lyman Orchards has PYO fruit, fabulous food (at the market and the 1741 Pub & Grill), mazes, and even golf. The calendar of events is also packed with family entertainment down on the farm. From Lyman Orchards' Strawberry Fest in the Spring to pumpkin picking in the Fall, there's always something fun happening here. Be sure to swing by for Brunch with Santa at Lyman Orchards during the holidays!

14. Hindinger Farm—Hamden

From the Strawberry Festival to the Fall Festival, Hamden's Hindinger Farm has seasonal fun for the whole family. Check the farm's website for upcoming food truck events, most of which feature live music. Visit with goats and enjoy the farm's playground before picking up some fresh produce, and maybe a little something from the gift shop!

15. Holmberg Orchards—Gales Ferry

Eastern Connecticut families head to Holmberg Orchards for pick-your-own fun and treats from the market. Find fresh lavender (in season) as well as cider and a bit of wine for mom and dad. You can make someone's holiday with a gift basket from Holmberg Orchards, filled with cookies and other treats!

16. Buttonwood Farm—Griswold

Two words sum up this fun place: sunflowers and ice cream. The Sunflowers for Wishes at Buttonwood Farm event is now an annual tradition that benefits the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Open till 9 every night Buttonwood has over 50 flavors, so they are bound to have something all your kids will love. They also make their waffle cones fresh, on-site. Kids will love seeing the herd of cows playing nearby and be amazed by the fields of blooming sunflowers. Buttonwood Farm is open from March to October.

17. UCONN Dairy Bar—Mansfield

If you live in Connecticut, you must go to the UCONN Dairy Barns at least once. You will learn all about the Animal Science program, see real animals, and watch the milking process (they have robotic milkers!). Afterwards, you and the kids head over to the UCONN Dairy Bar to take in the treats that are made right there on campus. You can observe the ice cream making process and try ice cream flavors like Banana Chocolate Chip, Oreo, Coconut, and Strawberries and Cream. You can also buy gallons and half-gallons to take home.
