Each year, those of Vietnamese descent celebrate the coming lunar year with Tet Nguyen Dan. It celebrates the Lunar New Year, the beginning of spring, and a way to start fresh.  This year's event is held at Garden Grove Park.

In 2025, the UVSA Tết Festival theme is “A Spring of Remembrance” or “Xuân Hoài Niệm”, honoring the efforts of the Vietnamese community in building a home abroad.

This year's event celebrates the Year of the Snake, in addition to commemorating the 50th anniversary of Black April, otherwise known as the Fall of Saigon.

The three-day festival attracts over 50,000 guests and is the largest Tet Festival in the country. Highlights include a Vietnamese cultural village, live entertainment, the Miss Vietnam of Southern California pageant, festive games and rides, a variety of ethnically diverse foods, and a dazzling firecracker show celebrating the new year..

Raising of the Bamboo  - Lễ Dựng Nêu - marks the beginning of Tết. This ceremony is held at 5pm on Friday.

The Ancestral Altar Procession - Lễ Rước Kiệu Tổ - is on Saturday at 2pm. This traditional ceremony features a cultural procession with carrying the altar of King Hung, the founder of the Vietnamese people and nation.

On Sunday at 12:30pm, guests can attend the Spring Wedding - Đám Cưới Đầu Xuân. Complete with an actual bride and groom, the wedding has traditional tea offerings to elders, lion dances, a wedding procession, and an actual roasted pig.
