1) Play at Firetruck Park

Firetruck Park is one of our Best Houston Playgrounds for Toddlers. This charming, fully fenced park features pint-sized play equipment perfect for little hands, along with a play firetruck that sparks imaginative play. 2) Eat at Little Matt’s 

A beloved spot for families in Houston, Little Matt’s combines great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and plenty of fun for kids. With a menu filled with kid-friendly favorites, an outdoor patio, and a small arcade to keep little ones entertained, it’s a perfect choice for a casual family outing. Founded in honor of the owner’s son, the restaurant also gives back—donating a portion of proceeds to Texas Children’s Hospital, making every meal a meaningful one.

3) Pick up a treat at Tiny's Milk & Cookies

This walk-up window is just yards from Little Matt's, and serves sweet treats of all kinds, plus great coffee. Milk & Cookies is famous for their chocolate chip cookies and cinnamon rolls. 

4) Visit McGovern-Stella Link Neighborhood Library

The McGovern-Stella Link Neighborhood Library is a fantastic resource for kids of all ages, offering a range of free activities to inspire learning and creativity. Little ones can enjoy storytimes tailored for babies and toddlers, while elementary-aged children can participate in fun craft sessions. Teens can explore STEM classes, expanding their knowledge in a hands-on way. Additionally, the library features a spacious playroom where toddlers can engage with toys and picture books, making it a perfect spot for families to enjoy some quiet, enriching time together.

5) Create at Fete 832

At this one-of-a-kind art studio, families can get hands-on and let their creativity run wild. Rice Village is a shopping destination in West University, offering something for everyone. Kids will love exploring Fundamentally Toys, one of our favorite Independent Toy Store in Houston, while the whole family can enjoy delicious meals at family-friendly spots like Mendocino Farms and Morelia Ice Cream Shop.

8) Check out Main Street Theater

Main Street Theater offers exceptional theatrical experiences for all ages. In their Rice Village home, teenagers and adults can enjoy high-quality, professional literary plays, while younger audiences can delight in engaging youth productions at MATCH in Midtown. 


9) Bike the Brays Bayou Trails

Just south of West University, Brays Bayou offers over 30 miles of scenic hike and bike trails winding along its banks. It’s an ideal spot for a family bike ride, providing plenty of space to explore nature and enjoy the outdoors.

11) Get outside at Colonial Park

Colonial Park is a fantastic spot nestled within West University Place, offering a variety of activities for kids of all ages. The expansive grassy field is perfect for running, playing ball, or enjoying picnics. Younger children will love the smaller playground, complete with a fun sand pit, while the Youth Fitness Challenge course provides an exciting and unique way for older kids to stay active.
