Join NBMAA in celebrating and highlighting the lives, works, and contributions of Black artists in our community and those featured in the Museum’s collection. The day will include performances, artmaking, storytelling, and food that honors African American culture.
 
Schedule:
10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. | Art Activity in Studio A - Create a silhouette scene inspired by Kara Walker’s "Harper's Pictorial History of the Civil War (Annotated)"
11-11:45 a.m. | Boogie Chillun - American Roots Music
11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. | Storytelling with New Britain Public Library
12-12:45 p.m. | Drop-in Sketching in the Galleries - create your own still life drawing in front of Charles Ethan Porter’s "Peonies"
2-4 p.m. | Day of Tears Stage Reading (separate registration is required)
Throughout the Day | Makerspace: Faith Ringgold-inspired activity
Café Takeover: Tradewinds at the Crossroads - Food offerings inspired by the Museum’s collection
You and your family can enjoy Free Admission all day once a month, thanks to generous support provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program
