Is LEGO Discovery Center Boston worth a visit? YES!
Renovated and re-launched in 2023, the LEGO Discovery Center Boston is a must-visit for kids, whether they are lego-maniacs or not. From the moment you see the massive giraffe statue outside, to the last meet and greet with lifesize LEGO characters inside, families will love the bricktastic experience of a visit to Boston's LEGO Discovery Center.
The LEGO Discovery Center Boston has some stunning displays of LEGOs. See scale replicas of some of Boston's most beloved landmarks, including the State House, Faneuil Hall, the Zakim Bridge, and the city's sports venues. But the real draw is building with the LEGOs, and the 40,000-plus square feet of fun has over 2 million bricks to play with!
Must See Things at LEGO Discovery Center Boston
Build a whole day of fun at the LEGO Discovery Center. Here are the top things to do:
Kingdom Quest
Part ride, part video game, Kingdom Quest lets riders aim for the top score as they save a medieval kingdom from cartoon nasties! Riders must be at least 51 inches to ride without an adult.
The Great LEGO Race
This virtual reality experience puts kids in the (mini-figurine) driver's seat. Do note that the VR race has an added charge.
Build Adventures
Forget the "virtual" race, build adventures has all the bricks, wheels, and axles that kids need to assemble their own LEGO cars and race them down the center's ramps.
Hero Zone
This Ninjago-themed playspace has a climbing wall, laser maze, building activities, and a soft playground.
LEGO 4D Cinema
Enjoy a multi-sensory movie experience (about ten minutes long) where the elements leap right off the screen. When it rains or snows in the film, the audience feels those sprinkles! Note that some seats can get a little more soaked by the elements. There are 2 LEGO-themed movies on constant rotation.
Spaceship Build and Scan
Kids can build a LEGO spaceship, scan it, and pilot the craft on a digital adventure.
DUPLO Park
Geared toward the youngest visitors (5 and under), DUPLO park features toddler-friendly bricks and adorable animals.
Kids will love building their own mini-figurine at LEGO Discovery Center Boston.
LEGO Shop
It'll be tough getting in and out of the LEGO Discovery Center without picking up a souveneir at the gift shop! The LEGO shop has a wide selection of sets, from the modest and portable to the massive (and massively awesome).
Know Before You Go
Admission is timed to ensure the space doesn't get overcrowded. It's best to purchase tickets online to ensure your desired time slot. Parking is plentiful around Assembly Square, with 3 hours of free parking at the adjacent Artisan West Garage. There is also a T-station (Orange Line - Assembly Square) for mass-transit types.
The facility is fully accessible and stroller-friendly (sorry, no stroller parking). Typical visits last between two and three hours. However, even though admission is timed, guests are welcome to stay as long as they wish.
