Winter Activities

Vermont is a classic winter destination and Mountain Top Resort offers all the quintessential cold weather activities families are looking for. There’s an outdoor ice skating rink, an epic sledding hill for overnight guests, and stunning snow-shoeing trails (many of which are even dog-friendly). For a particularly memorable experience, book a horse-drawn sleigh ride across the resort grounds.

While Mountain Top Resort is only 20-30 minutes to popular ski resorts like Killington and Pico, cross-country skiing is a favorite winter activity at Mountain Top, with 60 km of trails that have been traversed by thousands of skiers since 1964! Trail passes are complimentary for overnight guests, and equipment can be borrowed at the activity center. Lessons are also available.

Warm Weather Activities

Of course, Mountain Top isn’t just a winter destination–the resort’s family-friendly warm weather activities are seemingly endless. Overnight guests get access to a beautiful private beach, complimentary boats and paddleboards, an in-ground heated pool and hot tub, comfy lounge chairs, and a luxurious sauna. You’ll also have access to lawn games, 9-hole disc golf, tennis and pickleball courts, volleyball, a top-notch fitness room, and gorgeous wooded walking and hiking trails.

For horseback riders, the resort features an Equestrian Center where guests of all experience levels can take a scenic trail ride–with both English and Western-style riding available.

Clay bird shooting lessons are another popular attraction at Mountain Top, as well as small fishing boat rentals–enabling guests to rent fishing gear and get out on the 740-acre lake. And, while the resort doesn’t have its own golf course, the concierge will happily point you to some of Vermont’s best greens within 14-25 miles.

The resort offers multiple dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, made from locally sourced products and served up at beautiful indoor and outdoor dining areas across the grounds.

For a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that’s perfect for young kids, opt for the newly renovated pub-style Mountain Top Tavern, which offers lunch, dinner, and local craft brews on tap alongside an extensive cocktail list. For a more upscale breakfast or dinner, head to the chic and modern Dining Room, with breathtaking floor-to-ceiling views of the mountains. And, in warmer months, find a seat on the Terrace for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and take in the stunning backdrop.

Mountain Top has options for groups and families of all sizes, including spacious Lodge Rooms and Suites with multiple beds as well as a selection of 24 Private Guest Houses on the grounds.

The Guest Houses are available in a wide range of layouts and price points, and give the experience of staying in a private home just steps away from the resort. The stunning properties can accommodate up to 14 people, making them an excellent choice for big families and large groups. All of the homes feature fully-appointed kitchens, living spaces, and outdoor grills. Some include other prime features like hot tubs, pool tables, and private patios–plus some are dog-friendly. Family Events at Mountain Top Resort

Mountain Top is a perfect–and popular–destination for family events, from reunions to milestone birthdays to weddings. In fact, the resort was recently named “World’s Greatest Wedding Venue” by World’s Greatest Television!

In addition to the on-site Guest Houses, which make for excellent venues for smaller gatherings, there are a number of event spaces across the grounds. From May to October, the Beach Pavillion is a fantastic fit for family celebrations–situated in an exclusive cove on the resort’s private beach, and with room for around 60 guests. For large parties, the gorgeous Event Barn is the way to go, with three stories of space for as many as 250 people.
