Young innovators are welcomed to the Charles River Museum for a program of activities and fun, led by experienced early childhood educator Carole Pugliese. This program, free with regular admission, is part of the museum's efforts to inspire future innovators from the start.
Upon entry, children are introduced to the museum space, learning about its history as a steam energy power plant and its current role as a museum and learning space. The group will gather in the cozy Learning Corner for introductions, where Carole will share a story with the children as part of a read-aloud activity. Following the story, children and accompanying adults will take a walking tour of the museum, exploring its collection of industrial innovations and vintage machinery. Visitors will be encouraged to think about concepts like invention, machinery, energy, and innovation while participating in a hands-on creative activity.
Guests are welcome to stay after the program to continue creating or take part in a scavenger hunt, revisiting the museum's collection.
The museum will soon offer museum kits for use in the galleries, designed for young learners and families. These kits are still being created and will soon be available at the front desk for checkout during future visits.
