Best Skate Parks in Atlanta

1. Arthur Langford, Jr. Skate Park – Southside

Open 6:30am-11pm daily; lighted
The city of Atlanta created its second official skate park with beginners in mind. Located near the Southside Trail of the Atlanta BeltLine, the 6,000-square-foot skate park offers ledges, stairs, and rails, common in street skating. Riders must use pads. Other park amenities include baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, recreation center, restrooms, and playground. Free.

2. Bay Creek Skate Park – Loganville

Open sunrise to 11pm daily; lighted
Anyone on wheels (skateboards, bikes, scooters, inline skates) can explore this 12,000-square-foot skate park. Kids will find rails, curve ledges, an elongated bowl, wall ride, and kickers. Helmets are required for those 15 and under. Park amenities include restrooms, athletic fields, trails, handicap-accessible playground, sand volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts. Free.

3. Brook Run Skate Park – Dunwoody

Open 7am-9pm weekdays; 7am-10pm weekends; lighted
At 27,000 square feet, the flow design of this Atlanta skate park appeals to riders of all skill levels (open to skateboards and BMX bikes). All participants must sign a waiver and wear helmets. Kids under age 12 require adult supervision. The Brook Run Skate Shop offers lessons, camps, equipment rental, and a pro shop; and kids can visit the concession stand and community space. Other park facilities include a playground, zipline, restrooms, farmers market, and dog park. Free.

4. C.J. Smith Skate Park – Newnan

Open 8am-10pm daily; Lighted
Grind ledges at this 30,000-square-foot skate park in Newnan (considered the largest combination skate park/pump track in Georgia!). Use a competition-level bowl, Euro gap, rails, ramps, and more. Bikes, inline skates, and scooters are also allowed. The park also includes a splash pad, restrooms, playground, and pavilion. Free.

5. DeShong Skate Park – Stone Mountain

Open sunrise to 11pm daily
Beginners will enjoy this skate park, which offers 8,000 square feet of ledges, handrails, and stairs circling around a covered picnic area. DeShong Park also provides restrooms, a playground, walking trail, two half basketball courts, shuffleboard, checkerboard tables, and horseshoes. Free.

6. Duncan Creek Skate Park – Dacula

Open sunrise to 11pm daily; lighted
Kids love shredding this 20,000-square-foot skate park with four bowls, a mini-ramp, ledges, vert walls, handrails, and other obstacles. Also find the Duncan Creek Skate Shop, concession stand, and restrooms. Park amenities include a handicap-accessible playground, sand volleyball, and basketball courts. Free.

7. Fowler Park Skate Park – Cumming

Open for kids (under age 12) 4-6pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and 9-11am Saturday; Open to all others 7am-11pm daily; lighted
This 23,000-square-foot skate park incorporates bowls and transitions. Skateboards, inline skates, scooters, and bicycles are allowed. The Big Creek Greenway connects to the 85-acre park and amenities include a recreation center, restrooms, walking trails, playground, athletic fields, and a track. Free.

8. Gainesville Skate Park – Gainesville

Open 7am-sunset daily
Gainesville Skate Park opened in 2020 with stairs, rails, bowls, and ramps. The 20,000-square-foot park allows bikes without metal pegs, skateboards, and scooters. Children age 10 and under must be supervised. Free.

9. Historic Fourth Ward Skate Park – Old Fourth Ward

Open 7am-11pm daily; lighted
The recently renamed Thomas Taylor Memorial Skate Park sits on the Eastside Trail of the Atlanta BeltLine. This popular 15,000-square-foot spot caters to advanced skaters with deep bowls, a volcano, quarter pipe, transfers, hubbas, and a vertical wall. However, designated sections are provided for skaters of all levels. Only skateboards and inline skates are allowed. Free.

10. Kennesaw Skate Park – Kennesaw  

Open 6am-10pm daily; lighted
The 40,000-square-foot Kennesaw Skate Park at Swift-Cantrell Park opened in 2013. The Street League Certified skate park allows skateboards and inline skates (no bikes or scooters). Incorporating street elements, the skate park offers plenty of obstacles to practice heelflips, kickturns, and other tricks. Helmets required for those 15 and under. Amenities include restrooms, dog park, two playgrounds, splash pad, trails, and green space. Free.

11. McKoy Skate Park - Decatur

Open 8am-8pm weekdays and 8am-6pm weekends
Grind down the stairs and ledges at this all-concrete skate park. McKoy Skate Park reopened after a major renovation with design input from Decatur High School Skate Club and the community. The nine-acre McKoy Park features a zero-entry swimming pool, baseball field, playground, greenspace, and restrooms. Free.

12. Mountain Park Skate Park – Lilburn

Open sunrise-11pm daily
Drop into the flow bowl at Mountain Park Skate Park -- this 12,000-square-foot flow-style park delights skaters of all levels with a six-foot volcano, half pipe, bowl, and extensions. Facilities include baseball fields, tennis courts, sand volleyball, playgrounds, restrooms, and walking trails. Free.

13. Pinckneyville Skate Park – Peachtree Corners

Open sunrise-11pm daily
While beginners prefer this skate park, Pinckneyville Skate Park suits all levels with a bowl, pyramid, manual pad, quarter pipe, flat rail, and more. The 93-acre park boasts amenities including a playground, restrooms, baseball fields, pond, dog park, community center, and roller hockey rink. Free.

14. Silver Comet Linear Skate Park – Powder Springs

Open sunrise-sunset daily
Silver Comet Linear Skate Park is one of the newest parks on our list. Designated as a competition-level skate park, the 20,000-square-foot flow course caters to beginner and advanced riders. Enjoy access to the Silver Comet Trail and Silver Comet Linear Park with covered basketball courts, restrooms, two playgrounds (one is handicap-accessible for toddlers), a concession stand, and climbing net. Free.

15. Union City Skate Park – Union City

Open dawn to dusk daily
This 4,000 square-foot skate park incorporates many elements, including a large bowl of varying depths, grind rails, and a mini-ramp area, without overcrowding. The skate park allows skateboards, BMX bikes, and inline skates. Free.

16. Village Skatepark ATL – Atlanta

Open 3-11pm Wednesday-Friday, 3-9pm Sunday
This community-focused indoor skate park is open, rain or shine, for skateboards, scooters, BMX bikes, and roller skates. The non-profit facility offers lessons, equipment rental, special events, and workshops. The shop sells apparel designed by local artists. Signed waivers required. A day pass costs $8, monthly individual and family memberships are available for $25 and $75, respectively.

Atlanta Skate Park Tips

• Wipeouts happen often! Protect kids with proper equipment: helmet and knee, wrist, and elbow pads.
• Wear sunscreen and drink lots of water during skateboard sessions, as there isn't much shade.
• Don’t allow kids to skate right after heavy rainfall because of hazardous conditions.
• The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends kids 6-10 years old be supervised by an adult.
• Teach kids to wait their turn. Although a park may be large, certain elements require skaters to ride one at a time.
• In elements where multiple skaters can participate, teach kids to skate in the same direction.
• Skateboard shops are great resources for equipment, lessons, and summer camps.
