If you're sticking close to home for spring break this year, it doesn’t mean you have to be stuck at home. There are many fun spring break activities in Westchester and the Hudson Valley to keep kids busy over the upcoming vacation.

Top Things To Do Over Spring Break

1. Visit Legoland New York

Day trip to Legoland New York in Goshen, which reopens on Thursday, April 10, 2025, which is also the grand opening day of the amusement park's new Lego Duplo Peppa Pig Playground.

2. Hunt for Easter Eggs 

Find the best Easter egg hunts in Westchester and the Hudson Valley, including some with extra perks like a pony ride or a meet & greet with Bluey.

3. Ride an Easter Train 

For more Easter fun, the Easter Bunny Express in Kingston on April 12, 13, and 19 is a fun choice for families. 

4. Celebrate Earth Day

Celebrate the Earth and learn about sustainability at Cross County Center's Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 12, 2025, or at the Ashokan Center's annual Earth Fest on Sunday, April 13, 2025. Check out our Earth Kids Guide for more Earth-friendly activities to do with kids. 

5. Search for Amphibians at Night

Join Westmoreland Sanctuary's Amphibian Night Hike on Fridays, April 4 and 11, 2025, to search for frogs, toads, and salamanders as they awaken from their winter slumber. 

6. Visit the Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum

Check out Saturday and Sunday live science demos at this two-story children's museum, Family Free Night on Sunday, April 13, 2025, and children's programming throughout the week. Make a day of it with a walk along the riverfront or on the Walkway over the Hudson.

7. Go Day Tripping 

Head out on one of these cool day trips in and around NYC. 

8. Go to the Fair

Spend the day in picturesque downtown Nyack and enjoy rides, games, vendors, and more at the SpringFest Street Fair on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

9. Visit the Palisades Mall

Kids can make slime, race go-karts, tackle the indoor rock walls or ropes course, and much more at West Nyack's Palisades Center Mall. Check the mall's calendar for special school holiday events. 

10. Make Art 

Visit the Katonah Museum of Art on Saturday mornings for Saturday Open Studio, where kids can explore exciting art materials and hands-on activities inspired by the art on display. Free with museum admission. Or reserve your spot to do some art or make some slime at a local art studio in Westchester.

11. See the Cherry Blossoms

These delicate beauties generally bloom in the New York area from late March to early May. Check out the best places to see the cherry blossoms in Westchester and the Hudson Valley, including the Sakura Festival at the Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden on Saturday, April 19, 2025. 

12. Throw Some Clay

Learn a new hobby at the Clay Art Center's Saturday Clay, which runs every weekend. 

13. Meet Alpacas 

Get up close and personal with alpacas at a local farm. 

14. Revisit a Favorite Museum

Burn off some steam at one of these indoor play spaces if the weather isn't cooperating.

Head to the Jacob Burns Film Center for a kid-friendly movie screening, including a special presentation of Despicable Me in 3D on Saturdays April 5 & 12, 2025, and monthly sensory-friendly screenings of family movies.

18 Cook Together

Try a new recipe, like these homemade pop tarts, or host a homemade pizza night.
