Earth Day Celebration: A Day Unplugged at Anacostia Community Museum

Sat Apr 19, 2025
10:00am to 2:00pm ET
Age: All Ages
Price: Free
Location:
Anacostia Community Museum
Celebrate Earth Day at the Anacostia Community Museum. Attendees can meet community partners, enjoy family-friendly maker activities, and learn more about plant care. It's also the inaugural weekend of the FRESHFARM ACM Farm Stand, the only direct-to-consumer farm stand of its kind East of the River in Ward 8.
Activities include:
- National Park Service: National Capital Parks East leads historical-based walking tours of Fort Stanton (directly across from the museum).
- FreshFarm Markets brings back the youth cooking and tasting activity, featuring a composting demonstration and help planting seedlings to take home.
- Casey Trees teaches the importance of DC's tree canopy.
- Chalk Riot returns with a new Earth Day chalk mural for the perfect photo op and creates a coloring book walkway, which will need participants' help coming to life.
- Grounded Plant Shop teaches about plant care and gives away house plants for visitors to take home.
- Bloom Soil will be joining us again this year to give away their soil to help you get your garden going for this planting season.
- Slow Food DC teaches more about celebrating local, seasonal, sustainable food sources.
