Epic Universe and More Exciting Attractions Coming to Universal Orlando
Universal Orlando is expanding its universe with Epic Universe —the new theme park scheduled to open in 2025. Orlando residents and visitors alike are anxiously awaiting the opening of this fantastic attraction, Universal's first entirely new theme park since Islands of Adventure opened in 2001. Steve Tatham, Executive Creative Director of Universal Epic Universe, indicated recently on a podcast that construction will end soon, and the new theme park is set to open at the beginning of next year.

Epic Universe and More Attractions Coming to Universal Orlando
Beautiful Celestial Park is the lush entryway to Epic Universal.
Universal Epic Universe
Epic Universe invites visitors to explore five immersive, unique, worlds of wonder that include Celestial Park, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic.
1. Celestial Park: This beautifully landscaped area, complete with fountains and waterfalls, serves as the entranceway to the park, with portals to the four other lands of Universal Epic Universe. Highlights include:
- Stardust Racers: This dual-track racing coaster, reaching speeds of 62 mph and heights of 133 feet, will crisscross while speeding through the air.
- Constellation Carousel: Not your typical merry-go-round, this cosmic-themed carousel, including lions, dragons, and bears, glide forward, backward, and even make 360-degree rotations!
Yoshi's Adventure is a great ride for young families, featuring Mario's favorite reptile!
2. Super Nintendo World: Jump into the action of your favorite video games, and meet all of the iconic characters in this colorful world.
- Yoshi’s Adventure: This family-friendly ride will treat guests to breathtaking views of Super Mario Land as they travel through Mushroom Kingdom and encounter familiar characters along the way.
- Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge: This groundbreaking attraction will combine elaborate environments, augmented reality, and projection mapping. Guests navigate Mario Kart courses to collect coins, toss shells at Team Bowser, dodge obstacles, and more.
- Mine-Cart Madness: On this unique family coaster, guests board a mine cart and careen through the jungle on a thrilling adventure, experiencing all the crazy stunts from the video games, iincluding blasting out of barrels and jumping over gaps along a rickety track.

3. How to Train Your Dragon - Isle Of Berk: The exciting world of the animated How to Train Your Dragon franchise comes to life at Epic Universe.
- Hiccup’s Wing Gliders: This family coaster takes guests on a ride on Hiccup’s latest glider contraption – a winged flying machine that launches visitors into the sky, reaching speeds up to 45 mph as they experience what it’s like to fly on a dragon.
- Fyre Drill: Perfect on a hot Florida day, this Orlando ride allows guests to blast water cannons at flame-like targets and at each other, as they sail onboard colorful dragon-headed boats.
- Dragon Racer’s Rally: This land’s most thrilling ride take guests on high-speed barrel rolls in dragon-riding trainers that reach heights of up to 67 feet in the air. Guests can also control how "wild or mild" their experience will be.
- The Untrainable Dragon: In addition to rides, Isle of Berk will feature this live spectacular with musical numbers, breathtaking sets, and life-sized dragons soaring overhead.
4. Dark Universe: Universal’s classic monsters finally get a well-deserved land of their own! Guests wander through a spooky village, right out of a 1930s monster movie, complete with a castle, graveyard, and flaming windmill.
- Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment: This indoor thrill ride will take guests inside Frankenstein Manor, where they come face-to-face with all of Universal Studios' classic monsters.
- Curse of the Werewolf: Guests travel deep into the woods, board a wagon, and venture into the forest to escape werewolves on this spinning, family-friendly roller coaster.
5. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic: In Universal Orlando’s third Harry Potter land, guests will discover a different era of the wizarding world, one based on 1920s wizarding Paris, as seen in the Fantastic Beasts films. The main attraction here is rumored to be Battle at the Ministry, an indoor ride through the British Ministry of Magic.
For a more detailed look at Universal Epic Universe, visit the newly opened Preview Center at Universal City Walk, which includes a detailed model of the new park. Universal recently filed documents with Orange County that indicate they are planning to double the size of Epic Universe! While no details have yet been revealed, one thing is for sure — Epic Universe will be surprising and entertaining guests for many years to come.
Guests can meet Shrek, Donkey, and more beloved characters inside Shrek’s Swamp.
New Attractions at Universal Orlando and Islands of Adventure
6. DreamWorks Land (Universal Studios, opened June 14): The former Woody Woodpecker’s Kid Zone has been reimagined with beloved characters from the DreamWorks Universe. Guests can meet Shrek and Donkey inside Shrek’s Swamp; enjoy the family-friendly Trollercoaster; interact with Po in the Panda Village; and much more. There is also a live musical show, DreamWorks Imagination Celebration, featuring beloved characters.
The park’s lagoon comes to life with scenes and music from beloved Universal films at Cinesational: A Symphonic Spectacular.
7. Cinesational: A Symphonic Spectacular (Universal Studios, debuted June 14): Universal Studios' lagoon comes to life with scenes and music from films that have inspired Universal Orlando attractions, including Jurassic World, Jaws, Shrek, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, E.T., King Kong, and more. A technologically spectacular show, it features 228 fountains that reach heights up to 131 feet, 4K projection mapping, pyrotechnics, and 600+ drones.
8. Universal Mega Movie Parade (Universal Studios, debuting July 3): Continuing the theme of classic films, the Universal Mega Movie Parade, the park’s biggest daytime parade to date, will entertain guests with 13 brand new floats representing iconic movies. Guests will thrill to such sights as the massive Stay Puft Marshmallow Man on the Ghostbusters float, and raptors and a Tyrannosaurus Rex aboard the Jurassic World float. Universal Orlando’s Summer Tribute Store, which changes themes throughout the year, features merchandise, snacks, and photo ops inspired by some of the films seen in the Universal Mega Movie Parade.
9. Hogwarts Always - The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter Hogsmeade (Islands of Adventure, debuted June 14): On select nights, guests can experience the nighttime extravaganza Hogwarts Always, a spectacular journey through iconic moments of a school year at Hogwarts. The castle projection show will feature four different endings that celebrate each Hogwarts house, and will culminate with a colorful pyrotechnic display.
