There are tons of great playgrounds in Orlando and surrounding towns for families to explore. On nice days, one of our favorite activities is "park hopping"—visiting as many different playgrounds as we can in a single day. We’ve put together a list of some of the best playgrounds, from Lake County to Osceola County and everywhere in between. These playgrounds are great for local families, visitors needing a break from theme parks, and even birthday parties. These Orlando parks offer cool ammenities that include fishing piers, drone zones, disc golf, roller hockey rinks, splash pads, and much more!

Best Playgrounds in Orlando for Kids

1. Bill Frederick Park At Turkey Lake — Orlando

This 183-acre park is well worth its $5 per car admission fee. Families can enjoy a wide range of amenities, including two playgrounds, multiple walking trails—one featuring interactive activities and games—a fishing pier, sand volleyball, a designated drone flying zone, disc golf, swimming pool, and more.

2. Dr. P. Phillips Community Park — Orlando

Complete with a playground with climbing structures, a splash pad, dog park, walking trails, basketball court, sand volleyball courts, baseball field, and soccer field, Dr. P Phillips Community Park offers something for everyone. Many locals consider this the best splash pad in the area, offering space for kids to play and shaded seating areas for adults to relax.

3. Lake Lorna Doone Park — Orlando

This sweet little urban park, next to Camping World Stadium, underwent an $8 million renovation. Now visitors can take a break from the city and play at the shady playground, stop by the splash pad, and even take part in nature walks and other events hosted here. The park features a garden, walking path, putting green, art garden, and more.

4. Barber Park — South Orlando

There are enough amenities at Barber Park for a full day of family fun. It features two playgrounds, including an inclusive playground designed for kids of all abilities. The park also offers sand volleyball courts, outdoor roller hockey rink, skate park, basketball courts, soccer fields, dog parks, a splash pad, and multipurpose fields.

5. Boxi Park — Lake Nona 

Boxi Park combines food and family fun with outdoor counter-serve restaurants, a newly expanded playground area, “Barxi” dog park, and sand volleyball courts. This is a great weekend option, where kids can expel energy, the family can enjoy the outdoors and a great meal, and you can even bring your four-legged family members. Open Thursdays through Sundays, and vendors only accept credit and debit cards. 

6. Community Playground — Winter Park

Known to locals as "Castle Park," this large wooden play structure features multiple climbing features, swings, and slides. There is also a pavilion that can be rented for parties; restrooms are nearby, along with a walking/jogging trail, and a small lake for fishing.

7. Magnolia Park — Apopka

Magnolia Park boasts an Eco Education Center, several playground areas including an inclusive playground, fishing pier, dock, pavilion, and restrooms. The park also offers a butterfly garden, picnic tables, volleyball and basketball courts, baseball fields, a boat ramp, campsites, and a trailhead for the Lake Apopka Loop Trail.

8. Phelps Park Playground — Winter Park

Redesigned in 2020, Phelps Park Playground offers natural wood swings and shaded climbing structures, with a fully fenced-in playground. The park also has basketball courts, tennis courts, and pavilions available for rental, which makes this a great place for birthday parties.

9. Tucker Recreational Park and Nature Preserve —Winter Garden

This nature preserve boasts a charming wooden play structure with a treehouse vibe, surrounded by beautiful shade trees. Visitors can explore nature trails, relax in picnic areas, launch canoes or kayaks, and enjoy plenty of open green space.

10. Big Tree Park — Longwood

This 11-acre park is located within the Spring Hammock Preserve. Central Florida natives might remember visiting "The Senator" here, a huge 3,500-year-old cypress tree that was sadly lost in 2012. Kids can climb, swing, and have major fun! The playground is fenced in, great for containing toddlers who might wander off, and has a covered pavilion. Walk along the boardwalk to see Senator’s sister tree, "Lady Liberty," a 2,000-year-old bald cypress tree.

11. Center Lake Park — Oviedo

Center Lake Park offers a variety of amenities, including a large outdoor amphitheater, swan paddle boats, a splash pad, playground, lawn games, and a dog park. The park also serves as a hub for community events, hosting outdoor movie nights, food truck gatherings, and more throughout the year.

12. Fort Mellon Park — Sanford

This lakefront park offers a spacious playground complete with swings, slides, and climbing structures, along with a splash pad, basketball and tennis courts, pavilions, and open green space. Families can enjoy the playground, stroll along the Riverwalk with views of Lake Monroe, or walk to downtown Sanford. There’s no shade over the playground or splash pad, so bring sunscreen.

13. Torcaso Park — Winter Springs

This neighborhood park features a sea-themed playground and splash pad area, as well as sand pit, basketball courts, soccer field, football field, and a large pavilion.

14. Trailblazer Park — Lake Mary

Located at the Lake Mary Sports Complex, this park has a playground with climbing features and swings, a picnic pavilion, and a splash pad. The sports complex includes basketball courts, baseball fields, batting tunnels and cages, a tennis center, and soccer and kickball fields.

Best Playgrounds in Osceola County, Florida

15. Cannery Park — St. Cloud

Cannery Park features a large inclusive playground designed to welcome children and families of all abilities. It is fully fenced-in, has covered picnic pavilions, and shade structures over the play equipment.

16. Godwin Park — St. Cloud

This playground boasts a netplex play system resembling a ninja warrior course, perfect for adventurous kids! There’s also a separate playground for younger children, featuring a small, manual merry-go-round. Older kids can take advantage of two lighted tennis courts, a racquetball court, and open space for more activities.

17. Kissimmee Lakefront Park — Kissimmee

This lakeside park features two playgrounds, a Florida-themed splash pad, a fishing pier, walking and biking trails, and plenty of open space. The City of Kissimmee hosts various community events here, including outdoor movie nights, festivals, and Fourth of July fireworks.

18. Veteran's Park — St. Cloud

This park features several military vehicles on display as a tribute to veterans, as well as a playground area with climbing structures and slides, a bandshell, and lots of green space to run around.

Best Playgrounds in Lake County, Florida

19. Gilbert Park - Mount Dora

This lakeside playground offers views of Lake Dora and the Mount Dora lighthouse and features a pirate ship play structure with climbing elements and slides, as well as a newly added ADA-compliant playground. The park includes pavilions available for party rentals, open green space, and restrooms. A short walk away, Palm Island Park invites visitors to enjoy boardwalks over Lake Dora and scenic nature trails.

20. Lake Idamere Park — Tavares

Lake Idamere Park boasts a large, all-inclusive playground with swings, slides, sand areas with diggers, a stage for imaginative play, and misters. There is also a dog park, fishing pier, nature trails, and a Miracle League field, where kids of all abilities can enjoy baseball and track. The park is fully shaded, ideal for summer days!

21. Lake Hiawatha Preserve — Clermont

This 220-acre nature preserve extends the Lake Minneola-Clermont Scenic Trail and has amenities including dog parks, a playground, hiking and biking trails, a fishing pier, a top-rated disc golf course, and a picnic pavilion. The playground, designed to evoke Old Florida, even features a working, old-fashioned water tower!

22. Waterfront Park — Clermont

Situated along the shoreline of Lake Minneola, this park features a small playground, splash pad, sandy beach area, sand volleyball, basketball, fishing piers, and fitness trail. The splash pad is open seasonally, with an admission fee of $2 per person. The City of Clermont hosts several events here, including the famous Pig on the Pond Festival.
