Tips for a Great Indoor Golf Experience with Children
Mini golf is a fantastic option for a family outing, and indoor golfing is especially popular as a rainy day activity. Many of these indoor golf destinations welcome kids of all ages and skill levels, but you can also contribute to making the experience a great time for everyone involved. Before you head out to play, talk with your kids about the rules of the game, especially if you have younger kiddos. If you're visiting a virtual golfing space, give children a heads-up and explain what to expect when they go up to tee off.
Golf is great at any age, but you may have to modify the rules to accommodate younger players. Remember that the point of this whole activity is just to have fun! Emphasize enjoying the experience over "winning," and try to keep commentary focused on being positive and supporting each other.
What to Expect at Indoor Golf Facilities
Most indoor spots also serve food and drinks for purchase, so you don't need to worry about finding a place to chow down between swings. Before you head out to the location you've chosen, check the website to learn more about other offerings, since many locations also have arcade machines and interactive experiences to add to the fun. Expect to spend about 1-2 hours on a typical mini-golf course with 12-18 holes.
Indoor mini-golf facilities usually have everything you need to walk in and play the game. Clubs and balls are provided for everyone to use, and usually you also get notepads and pencils to keep track of everyone's scores. At indoor golf simulators, scoring is usually automatic and electronic. Another bonus of these indoor golf destinations near NYC: You don't need to wear any special clothing or shoes, making this a very accessible activity for the whole family.
