Washington Square Christmas Tree Lighting
Join the Rob Susman Brass Quartet as children and grown-ups alike sing holiday songs, and the sparkling lights on the resplendent tree are turned on to mark the beginning of festive winter evenings. Santa Claus leads kids in the illumination countdown. It's the 100 year anniversary of this beloved tradition.
The festivities start at 5pm with photos with Santa, stiltwalkers, children's face painting, music and more. There will be a Toys for Tots collection center for those who wish to donate to children less fortunate.
At 6pm, a small surprise performance preceeds the countdown to the tree lighting and caroling, which includes 100th anniversary commemorative songbooks for all to sing along.
MOVED FROM WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11 DUE TO RAIN FORECAST.
