Top 10 Things To Do in Falls Church City, VA with Kids

1. Cherry Hill Park & Farmhouse

Cherry Hill Park is the location for most of Falls Church City’s special events and activities, like summer concerts, sunset movies in the grass, and the annual Farm Day and Taste of Falls Church festivals. The sprawling park boasts a play area with spaces for big kids and little kids, a sand volleyball court, and nearby basketball courts. Picnic tables and benches dot the park, and there is a covered pavilion that can be rented for special events.

On Saturday mornings from April to October, you can tour the fully furnished farmhouse on the property that dates back to 1845. Inside, children can get a glimpse of 19th-century life and get a hands-on experience in the barn as they check out farming tools and take turns shelling and grinding corn.

2. Falls Church Farmers Market

Located in the Falls Church City Community Center parking lot, adjacent to Cherry Hill Park, the Falls Church Farmers Market is open every Saturday, year-round, in rain, snow, or shine! You can pick up everything from local meats and cheeses, to fruits and vegetables, to fresh flowers and baked goods. Musicians perform at the market regularly so you can enjoy the music as you stroll. Kids love Mama’s Donut Bites, so make sure you grab some of the mini donuts from the truck that's there every week—you’ll see a line (and smell the donuts)!

Street parking near the Community Center is available, but can be hard to find. It's a good idea to park down the street at the Kaiser Permanente Parking Garage, which is free. The market also accepts SNAP/EBT.

3. Scramble Indoor Playground

Scramble has activities for children ages 0-12. There is a quiet sensory area for infants and a transitional area for toddlers to crawl and explore. Preschoolers have a soft play zone where they can play safely away from the big kids. Children ages 5-8 can use their imaginations to become a paleontologist or a Wild West pioneer. And big kids can climb and explore an enormous three-story structure with multiple levels, four slides, a rope bridge, a zip line, and a hidden room. The on-site cafe serves pizza, sandwiches, smoothies, and more.

4. Tea with Mrs. B.

Tea with Mrs. B. is “a whimsical place to learn manners and grace.” Kids can join Mrs. B for special themed tea parties throughout the year, where they will learn about good manners through songs and stories. In her tea room, Mrs. B. mixes the rules of etiquette into creative classes, events, and camps for kids. After their etiquette lessons and activities, kids can sit down to enjoy their fancy tea experience.

5. Mary Riley Styles Public Library

Just across from Cherry Hill Park is this awesome library, which was expanded and renovated in 2021. Browse the shelves in the downstairs children’s area, or check out the library’s activity schedule—there's always something happening! The library regularly hosts storytime and other activities for infants and preschoolers. Older kids can join the LEGO club which meets after school, and teens can try classes like arts and crafts or American Sign Language.

6. Clay Cafe Studios

Creating a beautiful piece of ceramic art is as easy as 1-2-3 at Clay Cafe. Just pick out a piece of pottery, paint it, and the studio will fire it for you! Choose from whimsical figurines, piggy banks, cups, bowls, and more. You don't need a reservation; the studio accepts walk-ins. Clay Cafe also holds summer art camps and can host birthday parties. If you’re looking for a snack afterwards, check out nearby Rare Bird Coffee Roasters or Northside Social for a sweet treat.
