This event is a great opportunity to learn more about our planet and the incredible breadth of wildlife that call it home. World Wildlife Day was founded at the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in 1973.

Because so many of the Zoo's animal residents have been impacted by the wildlife trade, learn more about their stories!

The Zoo's bears, tortoises, cougar, monkeys, many of its snakes and more have come to find their home at the Zoo through rescue or confiscation from illegal wildlife trade.

Celebrate our planet’s amazing wildlife and learn how YOU can to take action to protect it.

  • Animal Keeper Chats
  • Amazing Reptiles! Show
  • Animal Ambassador Presentation
  • Information Stations including a S.A.F.E. Program table for the radiated tortoise
