Children Blossom at Free Brooklyn Botanic Garden Programs
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden's outdoor adventure garden is designed especially for young children to explore plant life from a kid's perspective. Filled with butterflies and birds, The Discovery Garden allows children and toddlers to pump water down a bamboo waterfall to a stream, hide under a tree, and hike a nature trail, all while exploring the wonders of plant life around them. The Brooklyn Botanic Discovery Garden hosts drop-in programs throughout the week for children 3-10. The programs are free with admission (which is always free for children under 12 and $8 for adults, but if you go on a Tuesday Adults are free too.) All of their free children's programs are from 2-4 and no registration is required. In addition to their free kid programs, they offer gardening classes and camps for a fee which you can find at The Brooklyn Botanic Garden website.

Discovery Tuesdays!
Tuesday is Discovery Day for young children interested in exploring plants up close. These 15-minute drop-in plant workshops are designed for children and families to be plant detectives and discover new parts of the Discovery Garden. Hands-on activities are educational and creative; they include nature explorations, plantings, and garden arts for kids to take home.
Thirsty Garden Thursdays!
Visit the Discovery Garden on Thursdays to learn more about how important water is in the garden. Visit the wet water table and the plants that live there. Use a watering can and help water the thirsty plants in the Discovery Garden. See the sprinklers as they soak the soil and plants. Learn about what makes water, where it comes from, and how meaningful it is to plants and people.
Storytelling Saturdays!
Lend an ear on Saturday afternoons at the Discovery Garden's toddler lawn as we read garden stories out loud. Hear the tales of patient plants, big bugs, and ugly vegetables. Kids can share their own garden story at show and tell. Stories will be repeated throughout the workshop, so drop by at any point during the workshop.
