The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is an annual video contest in which kid filmmakers create short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery award-winning books in just a few minutes. Creative takes are encouraged: think Charlotte's Web as a horror movie, or The Tale of Desperaux as a musical!

For thirteen years we've screened the best kid-made movies annually in New York, San Francisco, Boston, and many other cities . . . including right here in Chicago!

The screening is at 2 pm at the Harold Washington Library Center (in the Pritzker Auditorium), hosted by film festival founder James Kennedy (author of The Order of Odd-Fish) and Mary Winn Heider (author of The Stupendous Switcheroo and more).

We'll be showing movies made by kids from Chicago and some of the best from around the country.
